Candle delivers a high quality youth service to young people aged 10-25 years, offering a number of afternoon and evening groups and drop in clubs. Young people participate on a voluntary basis.

The Youth Programme provides a range of recreational, developmental and learning opportunities and services to young people in the Ballyfermot and surrounding areas.

The clubs provide the young people with a safe space where they can relax, be themselves and feel supported by staff and peers.

Young people participate in a number of activities and programmes which focus on personal and social development. These programmes are responsive to their changing needs.

Other areas of work carried out by the Youth Programme:

Volunteer Recruitment and Training - Candle actively promotes voluntary work and recognises the important role and valuable contribution of unpaid (voluntary) youth and adult leaders to the direct work with young people in the Youth Programme. 

 
Interagency and collaboration with a number of relevant agencies - such as local youth services, schools and community groups.
 
Student Placement -the Youth Service has built up good relationships with a number of colleges and facilitates student placements from time to time.
 
National Quality Standards Framework  - the Youth Programme are currently engaged with the National Quality Standards Framework (NQSF) Process. The NQSF for youth work is a Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) initiative designed as a developmental process for youth projects and services across Ireland.  It provides a structured framework for organisations to assess, indicate and enhance their work. The NQSF Implementation team consists of representatives from Staff and two young people from Candle Youth Programme, a parent, member of the Board of Management and School Completion Programme Coordinator
